WP7 – From Local to Global

The FuturEU project recently convened a vibrant session at the Ibis Hotel in Bucharest, offering a rich tapestry of discussions, presentations, and interactive activities. The day commenced with a warm welcome from Mihai Valeriu, President of the Impressum Association, who provided insights into the FuturEU project and shed light on Romania’s active youth participation at local and European levels. Valeria Paraschiva then led an engaging icebreaker session, where participants used figurative images to express their perspectives on active community involvement. The “From Local to Global” presentation session unfolded, with each partner showcasing their expertise on the evolution of countries, engagement practices, and development of the European Union. The day progressed to “Europe for You,” where young volunteers shared experiences, challenges, and successes in civic projects, emphasizing the importance of youth participation. Discussions encompassed technology, local initiatives, essential skills for civic engagement, and the role of educational institutions. The day’s pinnacle was a role-play activity – Gamification, exploring how participants influence EU policy through local initiatives. Participants assumed roles of EU stakeholders, engaging in scenarios that required authentic representation and collaborative problem-solving. The following day kicked off with a visit to the City Hall of Sector Three in Bucharest, featuring an insightful discussion with Mayor Robert Negoita. Topics ranged from the mayor’s roles in European committees to ongoing efforts in community relations and youth support. The day concluded with a debrief on the role-play game, emphasizing the importance of understanding diverse perspectives and fostering flexibility in addressing societal challenges. As the day wrapped up, participants engaged in a feedback session, planned future activities, and received participation certificates, cementing the success of this immersive and enlightening event in the FuturEU project’s journey.
